Adult Confirmation

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded.  It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.”

CCC 1285

Our sacramental preparation program for Adult Candidates is currently being restructured.

Last year, it began in the fall with a reading period.  During the Fall semester those preparing for Adult Confirmation met once a month to discuss the reading assignment for two hours on Sunday evening.  In the Spring semester the schedule changed and there were bi-weekly sessions to better understand the sacrament.  The reading period and group sessions were intended to assist the candidates see how Confirmation increases and deepens the grace of baptism, strengthens the candidates bond with the Church and enter into a more intimate knowing of the Holy Spirit, His gifts and fruits.

Prior to registering for the Adult Confirmation Program those interested should set up a one-on-one meeting with the Adult Confirmation Preparation Coordinator.
